What we assess

Your Connect Paediatric Assessment team will carry out an integrated assessment of your child because we know that working together is better. Our leading Paediatrician will identify the assessments that are required to support any diagnostic and treatment plans. We assess children & young people with developmental concerns, challenging behavior and family issues. We customise multidisciplinary assessments for your child by engaging with experts from many specialist fields.  We are able to assess children for a range of diagnoses, including the following:

Paediatrics

Paediatricians are doctors who provide medical care and advice for babies, children, and teenagers. With specialty in diagnosing and treating a range of injuries and illnesses.

Speech & Language Therapy

Speech and language therapists provide life-changing treatment, support and care for children who have difficulties with communication, literacy, eating, drinking and swallowing. They work with children to enhance these capabilities and provide the best means for communication in life.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists help children and young people participate and thrive at home, school, with friends, or in sports and clubs. They use activities which interest each child to help them achieve their individual goals which could include managing big feelings and behaviour, sensory regulation, playing with friends, handwriting, or showering and dressing themselves.

Child Psychology

Child psychologists assess the educational and cognitive skills of children and adolescents. They help caregivers and educators understand how children make sense of the world around them, why they might react in certain ways.  They also help identify specific learning needs, helping to come up with a plan to enable young people to meet their potential.

Nutrition

Paediatric nutritionists and dieticians help babies, children and teenagers to eat and drink well.  They support children and their families where nutrition and special diets can be part of their treatment, including allergies and fussy eating.

Physiotherapy

Movement allows children and young people to explore their bodies and how they work.  Coordination skills are essential to ensure children and young people are able to explore and engage in the world around them, from sitting still to the most complete dance routine.  Physiotherapists are experts at assessing children's movement, coordination, posture and strength.

Caring Child
Step 1

Submit a referral

A key-worker is assigned based on your referral. Your key-worker will be your main point of contact, making your assessment process as seamless as possible.

Step 2

Assessment undertaken

Your key-worker will stay in contact with you to coordinate the paediatric assessments required.  These may be in your child's home,  school or a specialist clinic.

Your CONNECT team will work together to formulate a diagnosis and intervention plan that will make your child's world better.

You will issued an easy to understand report.  Your key-worker will discuss this with you to empower you to take the next steps for treatment.
